Dave Dickson - Full of Heart in Williams Lake
Dave is an ex-RCMP and retired ICBC safety planner, who now represents his community as an emergency service coordinator and community volunteer champion.
“When I see people that I’ve helped, see that smile on their face…it makes me feel good to help other people. It’s not about me.”
In the wildfires of 2017, Dave came to help his community of Williams Lake with evacuations and emergency coordination to ensure everyone was safe and had a place to go. “We got everybody safely out of town and we got everybody safely home.”
There’s no doubting Dave’s enthusiasm for the place he calls home, as he says, “I love this region because it’s a diamond the rough – the beauty of the Cariboo Chilcotin, the outdoors, the fishing, the hiking…the list goes on and on.”
“It’s about the people of the community,” Dave says, “People need to meet them and see the characters and the stories that they have.”
